Snow in England in May?

I thought this was just too funny not to share... Nick thought we looked cold so he did a little editing. What can't you do with a computer?

Internet I love you!

My internet is finally hooked up at home! There were some moments when I thought it wasn't going to work... when the guys were crawling around under my house and couldn't figure out where it was coming from, when they couldn't get it to load on my computer, when it quit working right after they left and I had to call tech support. But sigh... it works now...

In other news... I found out why there wasn't a battery in my smoke detector. In mid-shampoo this morning the alarm started going off from the steam in the shower. I'm frantically grabbing a towel, traipsing into the hall dripping water all over the floor on my tip toes, clawing the stupid battery out before the people across the wall think the world is coming to an end. It was great... I'm glad there was nobody there to see it and laugh. We'll see if the steam effects the new detector the landlord gave me if I put it out in the kitchen.

And here I sit in this crazy technology class again. Halfway over I keep telling myself. Right now the projector isn't working so we're trying to get it hooked back up. I can't wait until its over with...

What summer is all about: BOATING

Still no internet at home due to faulty automated customer service at Comcast, but I'm supposed to get up and running tomorrow. Hollie came and helped me move the living room furniture and put up pictures so it's looking like somebody lives there. Will post some pictures later.

Last week I told a few hours off from the grind of school and work and homemaking to go boating with Mary Jane and Randy. SOOOOO much fun! The water was so smooth that both Randy and MJ were coerced into their first dip of the summer and I drove the boat for Randy to slalom since he had just greased the steering mechanism and it was too hard to manipulate for MJ's taste. Although most people think wakeboards are just for jumping I like cutting and sitting down and doing other things with them...

The living room, hall to the left goes to the bedrooms/bathroom on left

My room 2
2nd bedroom (the office and guest room)

One of my housemates (this is the biggest one I have found)

My Duplex 1

With the purchase of a Nikon D50 yesterday (thanks for the help, Dad) you can now see pictures of my duplex.

The front of the house, my part is on the left.

The back of the house, the window with the AC is to the second bedroom. The window in front of the car is the kitchen.
The kitchen (pardon the camera box mess on the kitchen table)
The laundry area in the kitchen

All grown up...

This weekend was a quick trip to campmeeting, home, then up to VA Beach for the wedding of a good childhood friend of mine, Lauren Ross. Hard to believe we're ready for things like this...

Building a fire at a Pathfinder camporee, we're probably about 10.

Getting ready. I didn't make it in time to ride in the limo with the bridesmaids to the Botanical Gardens where the wedding was but I got to help her get dressed.
Walking in with her dad. Mr. Ross was in the Navy and we kept having to change our baptism date because his sub kept getting delayed coming back to port. We had a lot of fun at their house with him.

My dad was the minister of course. Planes kept flying over from the naval station so he had to stop periodically and wait for the noise to die down. Lauren just graduated with a degree in Architecture, her husband, Will, is a mechanical engineer with his PhD already.

We pick up right where we left off as best friends. The reception was at the Chrysler Museum of Art. Lauren is a big modern art buff.

Now it's a 7 hour drive back to Southern, to school, and to work. I've gone about 25 hours on the road this weekend... sigh...
