Honeymoon Day 2: Nassau, Bahamas

After a great buffet breakfast we disembarked into the town of Nassau, Bahamas.

Our tour guide talked very slow and very loud to be heard over the engine. We loved the accent in the Bahamas. Ryan can do a great impression! He pointed out all of the celebrities houses on Paradise Island as we passed by. Nicholas Cage and Tiger Woods have houses there to name a few.

There's a water park in the hotel with a slide that goes down through a tube into the aquarium. We decided to stay in the free portions of the hotel though and marvel over the ornate decorations!

This man made conch trumpets. They are SO loud! We were startled by them a few times that day. I also saw some Christmas tree ornaments made out of the pink inside - they were gorgeous. These were the most beautiful conchs I've ever seen and only $5. Unfortunately, we didn't think we could fit one in our suitcase.

I really liked Nassau because we got to see another culture. This is the native market, this is the widest aisle, most were only wide enough to barely walk through with Bahamian ladies plying their wares on every side very insistently. I wanted to take more pictures but was afraid to take my camera out and stop to take pictures back in the narrows. I thought they might grab me and hold me for ransom until I bought their knock off Prada purses and Rolex watches. This place reminded both Ryan and I of the Blue Shacks in Kenya. We bought a picture frame made with banana and other leaves that you might see some day if you come visit us!

We loved watching the taxi drivers play dominoes. They really get into it! Yelling and slamming the tiles down so hard its a wonder they don't crack. As soon as the game is over they are all friends again in an instant.

Our stateroom - door behind me (see me in the mirror at the top left), closet to the left behind the vanity, bathroom to the right. All in all, close quarters. The comedian from night one said, "My stateroom saved my life, I fell out of the shower and straight onto the bed!"

Our evening dinners were in the Moonlight dining room. There was another one called the Starlight one floor above us.

Dinner started with an appetizer on the left and then the main course in the middle. You can click on the image for a larger view. All of the vegetarian options were marked with a "v" so it was easy to choose!

Our place settings. We never figured out what all the silverware was for because they took it away before we could use it all! By the third night, the waiter figured out we didn't wine so he never even put our wine glasses out.

Every evening after dinner we had some sort of show. The first night was a very funny comedian from the Tonight Show, this night was a dancing show called "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" featuring American popular music through the eras.
